Fire Pavillion

a new fire pavilion replaces the existing fireplace, which had to be retired due to flying sparks. it serves as a gathering space for educational events.
its tepee-inspired form shelters visitors while staying elevated to preserve the beautiful view.to create additional seating it is dug into the ground and the excavated material is used for benches and storage walls. the warehouse is created using two sliding elements, closed steel sheet outside, a spark-guard grille inside, which can be
adjusted for spark protection as well.
the materials used are raw and archaic: a black metal roof, as if burnt off echoing the
neighboring park buildings clad with corten steel, rammed earth from the excavation, concrete, and reused, flamed timber
supports and rafters from the original pavilion.
